Painting by Tamra Pfeifle Davisson

Fear of the unknown.
Emphatic utterances.
It’s never been this bad,
this dark.

This night.

Thoughts all over the place.
Places they shouldn’t be,
Doors they shouldn’t open,
They opened them,
All of them,

The voices.

Plug your ears, son.
You don’t need to be reminded of this, tonight.
Not again.
But they do not stop.
Louder, they become.
In his head, they reside.

His solace.
His sacred place.
It’s been defiled.
Pen and Paper, a tale of once upon a time.

‘You are not good, enough.’

Running.. Panting…
Losing breath… Catching breath,
Away.. He must.
Away, from these voices.

Left? or Right?
Stop? or Continue?

The answers to these, he always lacked.
‘I should stop running, what’s the point?’

FEAR by (@Carltonkene)

Sweat streaming down from your head to your neck, hands shaking, over thinking and all others, my dear you have come down with a case of fear.

Many of us HUH! All of us have had a time with fear so I would not bother defining just a four letter word. From the President to the beggar on the street, everyone gets that feeling.  Whether it is a good feeling or not it is up to you.

According to history (or cartoon that I love watching) fire started because ancient man struck one stone on another. Now people with common sense y would u think man carried out that act, as for me i feel man was not bored and started playing with stone NO, he must have tried to sharpen a stone, for fear of being eaten, to use to protect his or herself and so after trying to sharpen the stone there was a spark and like magic fire started.

A negative view  can be seen in an exam hall during exam for fear of failure or disappointment he/she tries to cheat and in so doing gets caught or those of you (me too ) who want to do something but end up not doing it because of fear of one thing or the other.

Some fears can be avoided by doing the right thing at the right time. And if you can READ I don’t think i need to tell you what is right from what is wrong.

Fear continued…

I have come to realize that fear has so many names, most of the time they are followed by the word @phobia lol which is ‘fear of something’ here are some phobia’s: Botanophobia – fear of plants,

Most of us are guilty

Trypanophobia – fear of needles or injections, Somniphobia – fear of sleep etc. See this one:

Who no go fear?

Stygiophobia – fear of Hell, even fear of having fear is Phobophobia,

Phobophobia! … TF!?

there is even fear for countries lol Sinophobia – fear of Chinese in future there could be Nigeriophobia (Never).
But what fascinates me is babies show no sign of fear to what we as adults will see, and take to our heels. My mum told me about how a snake wrapped round a baby’s leg and the baby didn’t let out a scream but it is funny how if you bring a clown near babies there is a high tendency for them to cry due to fear, (i later found out it is Coulrophobia – fear of clowns) , oh and for people who love gist, the baby didn’t die. As a Christian i have been taught that as a being, i should not fear because it is a way for the enemy to attack and well fear is good at rendering someone defenseless.

To end this, I would say you should only overcome your fear and not let it have the best of you. P.S only fear GOD. So for those of you who are reading this and are on twitter don’t show fear and follow @carltonkene

The Race I Run

I find myself on a track, but it’s just me
on the ground, my left knee
hands behind a white line
there’s a crowd, but no one’s cheering

My heart’s pounding, pulse pumping
my feet moving… I’m running
now i hear chattering
I see faces, some i know, others i don’t
but they all sit there, watching.

is the wind speaking?
I hear it clearly now, reverberating,
will he finish, he will finish, he can’t finish
but i have to, well, their qualm to tarnish

Now i see hurdles, here and there
i scale here, stumble there
my clothes in tatters, all i hid now laid bare
i need Your help i whispered, my eyes tear

Now, He’s here…

I feel Him ahead, my sides and rear
I’m still running, this time, without fear
hurdles that used to interfere,
suddenly begin to disappear.
This race, i shall finish and finish well
for the end is near.

What type of race are you running ?.. When you fall, do you get back up or lay there lamenting ?
Do you listen to what people have to say? Do you really need that crowd ? Do you run only when people are looking ?

Ask yourself.

Remember, He’s always there, all you have to do sometimes is whisper.

As we run in 2012, let’s run with Him.

But then, this is what iThink, what do iKnow ?

Much ado about a Candle light

I remember sometime last year, in fact, I think it was this time last year… I had a truck load of thoughts bouncing all up in my head, but most laden of them all was the nagging question of “Funto, what can you do?” … ” What really is my talent?”. Now, trying to answer this question was a major challenge for me and failing to come forth with answers was leading me into a state of depression step by step as I saw other people do things they were apparently gifted in… you know: singing, dancing, comedy, playing of musical instruments, soccer blah blah blah..
iRemember taking a walk one day in school talking to God, telling Him how I was tired of this state, I had been unhappy for a week or two… I cried that night and laid that burden upon him, asking him to take control. I stopped pondering on this matter entirely.
Then he took control.
He began to show me things I could do, firstly, I found myself coordinating Smile Care (a humanitarian org.) in my school (a position I totally did not deserve). I began to notice how the passion to help the less-privileged got fueled up In me.
Being the coordinator of this team in school required me to talk, talk in front of people and with people, planned or totally impromptu.
He showed me yet again that I could do this and do it well.
In the light of all of this I had not come to the knowledge that this was my talent, what I was good at, what I will always be good at, till He sent an angel(a friend) who said ” It takes TALENT to do what you do” and that was it for me! — EPIPHANY!

What's the sense in this?

Now take a good look at this picture to the left… read it’s caption…

Funny thing is that loads of people out there (search yourself, you may be included) do the same thing this rather “un-bright” fellow in the picture is doing.

What is the point of having a lit candle under a bushel? Is it not meant to be placed upon a candlestick that it may shine to all that are in the house?

I get burnt when I see an obviously terrific singer or a gifted instrumentalist  or an apparently talented person in whatever it may be, who just places his/her lit candle under a basket… I go thinking “Stingy son of  a _____”  (Disclaimer: Whatever you fill in the gap, you are totally accountable for it)

No matter what your reason maybe, my bible makes me understand in Matthew 5:16 that you and I are supposed to let our light so shine that they may see your, my good works and then through that means glorify our Father in heaven.

Imagine if Mother Teresa had hid her candle light? Imagine the millions of children that would have been left homeless today?

If Michael Jackson never overcame Stage-fright or general shyness and refused to get on stage, imagine all those good music buried 6 feet with him.

#Didyouknow that the Greatest orator of all time was a stammerer ? Demosthenes, imagine if he hadn’t overcome this challenge and trained himself to speak even to the extent of having pebbles in his mouth. He would have died but a feeble unknown Greek. This goes out to every stammerer out there, or any one with all of them factors (S, A, H, X and those yet to come)… You can do it! If you have a passion for singing, sing. If it’s in speaking, speak! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Don’t let your talent go to grave with you, be that one candle that can light other millions of candles.

Dr Myles Munroe said that the wealthiest places in the world are not the gold mines of South America or the oil fields of Iraq or Iran. They’re not the diamond mines of South Africa or the banks of the world. The wealthiest place on the planet is just down the road. It is the cemetery. There lie buried, companies that were never started, inventions that were never made, best-selling books that were never written and masterpieces that were never painted.

In the cemetery is buried the greatest treasure of untapped potential. Don’t let yours be one of them.

But then, this is what iThink… what do I know ?
